Required Workplace Posters

Required Workplace Posters

Author: Cole Cummins/Wednesday, December 3, 2014/Categories: Newsletters, 2014 Winter

Federal and Alaska state laws require you, as an employer, to clearly display official labor and employment posters detailing applicable federal and state laws in your workplace. Both the United States and the Alaska Department of Labor provide posters at no cost to the employer. In fact, most posters can be printed right off of your own computer. Here is a list of posters that should already be in your workplace:

·         Notice to Employees – Federal Minimum Wage

·         Your Rights Under the Family Medical Leave Act

·         Employer’s Notice of Insurance

·         It’s the Law – Job Safety and Health Poster

·         Equal Employment Opportunity is the Law

·         USERRA – The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act

·         Employee Rights Under the National Labor Relations Act

·         Summary of Alaska Wage & Hour Act

·         Emergency Information

o   How to report fatalities and serious injuries to OSHA

·         It’s Your Right to Know – Safety and Health Protection on the Job

·         Notice to Employees – Unemployment Insurance

·         Summary of Alaska Child Labor Law

·         Employee Polygraph Protection Act (for employers who require employee polygraphs only)

Employers failing to post the above posters in your workplace may be subject to citations and penalties from OSHA. Please visit the Alaska Division of Labor at www.labor.alaska.gov/lss/posters.htm to download these workplace posters.
