Required Posting of OSHA Form 300A

Required Posting of OSHA Form 300A

Author: Cole Cummins/Wednesday, December 27, 2017/Categories: Newsletters, 2018 Winter

Each year on February 1st, employers must post their OSHA 300A Summary for employees to view. The 300A Summary shows the total number of job-related injuries and illnesses the organization had over the last year. To accomplish this posting, the OSHA 300 Log of Work Related Injuries must be complete and up to date. Using the information from the 300 log you can then complete your 300A Summary.

Some important points you need to know about the 300A:

 • One must be posted for each separate location

• It must be posted where you normally post other employee notices

• It must remain posted from February 1st to April 30th

• It must be retained for 5 years following the calendar year to which it relates

• It must be “Certified” (signed) by the top executive, stating that the information is correct and complete to the best of the employer’s ability

Even if you have no recordable losses, you still must post the summary with zeros. The summary can also be used to provide you with an important benchmark regarding your safety record. Data from your organization can be compared with that of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data bank of national or state averages.
